9/11 Empty
PostSubject: 9/11   9/11 EmptySat Sep 10, 2011 4:34 pm

So tomorrow is the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks to the World Trade Center. I know some are not from the U.S. but even so, I know we all know about this tragic day. I personally wasn't affected, but it was still a very sad day. Maybe some of you would like to say something about it, maybe not, but I still wanted to put this topic up.

It is very unfortunate how much hate this world has. It is unfortunate the wars we have that are, honestly, about NOTHING. We have no reason to be fighting, killing each other, hurting, suffering. It makes me sad how people prefer wasting time killing and terrorizing others, than spending their lives striving to find happiness.

When the 9/11 attacks happened, I remember I was in 6th grade and was 10 years old. We were all sent home in the quickest way to make sure we were all safe just in case we were attacked; because no one knew where else attacks could take place. I wasn't in New York, I was in Philadelphia (where I am now), but precautions were still taken. That day was a very strange and sad day. I remember watching the news and seeing the city of New York covered in dust, in smoke, people running away as fast as they could, crying. It was truly scary because it was unexpected, because it was a BIG attack, and because no one knew who the next target was - as in what city, what state.

According to the news, there are new threats about attacks that are planned for the anniversary of 9/11. Nothing is confirmed but it's crazy how we are still going through this. I HATE all the hate in this world. I HATE that we can't live our lives freely and without worries because we don't know what will happen. I'm just hoping and praying that those rumored threats are just that, rumors. Even though I live in Philadelphia, I'm still scared. ESPECIALLY, because my boyfriend is in the army and he thinks they will be going tomorrow to NYC just in case anything happens. Ugh. :( I just pray to God that he will stay safe, that we will ALL stay safe.

I honestly wish I could reach the minds and hearts of those who only have hate in themselves and change it to something better - love.

I understand everything you said. I can't remember where I was when it happened, but I can remember me and my family watching the news and seeing all the horror...
People don't understand each other, get mad and go kill the ones who don't have NOTHING to do with this. It's very, very sad.

I'm hoping that those threats are just rumors too, sweetie. And I'll be hoping your boyfriend - and all of americans and soldiers - stay safe.

Definitely. They take their anger or whatever out on people that have nothing to do with what is happening to them. I think they just find it as a way of gaining "power" and having people being afraid of them. Unfortunately, the way that problems are being solved is with war and killings. UGH!

And thanks a lot. :) <33

I remember perfectly where I was and what I was doing. I usually don't watch tv in the afternoon and it was the first day of high school. A boy that my mother helped with latin arrived and told us so we turned on the tv, it was terrible. I was 14. When I went to NY I went there, there was just a big hole with people working there. Can't forget that day.

Wow, 10 years already. It was a remarkable day for me, I remember the news very clearly and the sadness...
I feel sad that all of those things happen because humans can't live respecting each other's choices, opinions or ideas. There is no justification for any kind of war(ish thing).

I know what you mean, Andy. I think that's one of the reasons I love animals so much. They have unconditional love for each other and for other species too... humans are just not capable to do that.

Amen. There are good people in the world, yes, but unfortunately it's something rare to see nowadays.

I know it's already been a week since 9/11 but I've been away.

I want to say thank you for making a topic about this day. I was personally affected by that tragic day. My uncle worked in Building 7 (the building next to the Twin Towers that collapsed later) and he made it out ok but it was absolutely terrifying not knowing where he was for the longest time and then sitting at home with my family watching the towers burn and finally collapsing. Although I am so grateful that he is ok, it breaks my heart everytime he talks about the friends and colleagues he lost that day. 9/11 is an anniversary I wish I never had but one I will never forget.

I'm sorry for that ChanChanMan, I imagine how must've been for your uncle, being something that close to you and your family, but thank God he was ok!
