Well.. Rachel DID ask to go on a break... so technically they were! BUT Ross shouldn't have slept with someone so fast if he really loved Rachel! They were on a break but Ross did mess up!

I'm on Ross' side but I agree that he shouldn't have slept with someone so fast. :)

BUT if they never went to England for Emily and Ross's wedding, maybe Mondler wouldn't have happened!!!! :( Or maybe it would've just later in time... Everything happens for a reason! ;D

I hate her too! She was so not good for Ross. She was controlling and a pain in the ass. AND SHE MADE ROSS STAY AWAY FROM RACHEL. I swear I wanted to kill her!

Well... Rachel did only say 'maybe we should take a break, so I really don't know... Whatever the case, it was really wrong for Ross to go and sleep with someone else. But I agree with j-man, I always thought Ross was more in love Rachel... He just really screwed up.

They both made really big mistakes... The real problem is that they never tried to talk... They were too mad and when the anger stopped Ross was with Emily...

This is kinda the question that can never be answered, like 'what is the meaning of life?' lol. I can see the points of view from both sides, and neither are completely right or wrong. If only they had talked about it before Ross left!

As much as I agree with all of you that Ross shouldn't have slept with someone else so fast, there's this tiny voice in my head that makes me want to think differently... Wasn't it Rachel who wanted a break, first of all? When Ross called to make up ~*~Mark~*~ was there (I HATE THAT GUY!), so he slept with the copy place girl out of spite and I think he felt a bit hopeless...

Yeah. I always thought Ross shouldn't have stormed out in the first place. They could've talked about it and work it out. Like Rachel tried to but she couldn't get in touch with him.

Eurgh I hate Emily too, she was so possessive. Did she really think that she had the right to break two friends apart just because of history? Eurhghgh what a *nasty word* she was.

I'm with Ross, I agree that they were on a break. It wasn't exactly Ross's best decision to sleep with someone so soon after, but he was hurt. People do stupid things when they're upset and angry.

And I would also just like to join in the Emily hate. I really didn't like her.

I just didn't understand Rachel when it all happened, I probably would have reacted the same way, but some of her decisions affected their relationships so much and in the long run.

I think Rachel was just so happy with her job, this was the first time she was really making it on her own, she worked at the coffee shop but her wage was so low, she didn't enjoy it and she couldn't really advance, when she got the job at Ralph Lauren (it was RL right lol) she really wanted to focus on that and she saw Ross as getting in the way or not ~respecting that or something. But she still loved him, so she didn't want to end it.

I think Rachel overreacted to Ross attentions by taking a break and letting Mark go visiting her, but Ross shouldn't have slept with another woman. But they were definitely on a break.

As for Emily I didn't like her, but she had her reasons, I mean... he said the wrong name at their wedding, for crying out loud!

Yes, but what Ross did was not cool. A break is not a break-up. I've had an experience with a break. My girlfriend at the time needed some time away, and I needed to get to my school work more, but we were in an "open relationship"-type thing (although neither of us dated anyone else, there was the option). That's the definition of a break for me. Ross just went too fast.

Ok, just here to say that I agree with everybody. Hahaha They were on a break but what Ross did... I don't think I would be able to forgive very fast too.

I mean, I put myself in Rachel's position: The day after we start being on a break I find out the guy slept with someone else? I would feel like what he felt for me wasn't THAT strong or else he would at least being sad for a while before even thinking about hooking up with some other girl. Especially being Ross, the guy who claimed that loved her since he can remember.
Besides, they didn't broke up per say, they were ON A BREAK, that's a bit different. It's like "let me be alone for a while because I need to think some stuff". Ross did overreact thinking that it was all over forever. :S
Aaaand Rachel had no idea where Ross was when he called her. She didn't know he went to that party only to talk to Chandler and Joey, she didn't know that the Slut-from-the-xerox-place (I don't like her) liked Ross... She probably thought that he went there because he wanted to do something.

So if I was going to pick a side, it would be Rachel's, because as much as I understand Ross I know I understand only because I SAW what happened to him after their fight, Rachel didn't know any of that.
Plus, I do think Ross overreacted when he assumed everything was over much more than Rachel did for not understanding him.[b]
